Breast implant removal / exchange is a surgical procedure whereby women that have had breast augmentation want to have their implants removed. This is a stand alone procedure, it can however be carried out alongside other surgeries including a breast uplift, or implant removal and replacement also referred to as breast re-augmentation. This will depend on what you are hoping to achieve and the reason for implant removal.

Breast Implant Removal / Exchange Surgery

Breast implant removal is a cosmetic procedure that typically involves the surgeon making an incision into your previous incision site to reduce additional scarring. The surgeon will then remove your old implants before stitching and dressing your wounds.

This procedure is done under sedation, on a day basis and typically takes a couple of hours to complete. Following the surgery you will be taken into our onsite recovery room where you will be monitored by our Nurse and allowed to rest before being free to go home on the same day. 

Is breast implant removal a safe procedure?
There are risks associated with all cosmetic procedures and these will be outlined to you thoroughly during your consultation. We do take the safety of our patients and staff extremely importantly here at Victoria House Clinic and our registration with the CQC confirms this is a safe environment and we are authorised to carry out the procedures we offer.

What is the before & after process like for this procedure?

At Victoria House Clinic we pride ourselves on offering a first class treatment. From your first consultation with us you will be supported throughout the whole process with a bespoke treatment plan. All aftercare will be consultant delivered and your recovery will be monitored. Typically, you should expect some temporary numbness, bruising and potential tightness in your chest area.

Breast Implant Removal / Exchange FAQ

This is a same day procedure, meaning after time in our recovery room you will be free to go home. You should however plan for up to two weeks off work following the procedure and other restrictions on lifestyle incl. exercise. All of this will be explained during your consultation.

Yes, if you are wanting your current implants to be removed and replaced with new ones then our Breast Re-Augmentation procedure will be best for you. 

This is a common concern. We will talk through all of this and other concerns during your consultation. You could consider combining breast implant removal with a breast uplift procedure to give your natural breasts a lift.
