Considering Breast Augmentation? Here's What You Need to Know First
Thinking about a boob job (breast augmentation)?
It's a big decision and one you shouldn't take lightly.
Here at Victoria House Clinic, we understand that you might have a million questions swirling around in your head. Will it look natural? What kind of recovery can I expect? How much does it cost?
This comprehensive guide will equip you with the knowledge you need to navigate the exciting, yet sometimes confusing world of breast augmentation.
What is BREAST AUGMENTATION?
Breast augmentation, also known as breast enlargement, is a cosmetic surgery procedure designed to increase breast size and fullness. It can be performed for various reasons, including:
- To achieve a more balanced and proportional figure.
- To restore breast volume after weight loss or pregnancy.
- To correct asymmetry (uneven breasts).
- To enhance confidence and self-esteem.
Who is a Good Candidate for BREAST AUGMENTATION?
Breast augmentation is a safe and effective procedure for many women, but it’s not for everyone. Here are some things to consider:
1. Your health: You should be in good overall physical and mental health before undergoing surgery.
2. Your expectations: Be realistic about your desired outcome and understand that breast augmentation is about enhancing your natural beauty, not creating a completely different look.
3. Your lifestyle: Be prepared to adjust your daily activities for a short period during recovery.
4. Smoking: Smoking can increase the risk of complications, so quitting is highly recommended before surgery.
5. Breast shape: In some cases, breast augmentation alone would not be ideal due to breast drooping. In this case our surgeons will discuss with you the possibility of having lift and augmentation or lift only.

Considering YOUR OPTIONS: Implants and Techniques
During the consultation, Mr. Filobbos will discuss the different types of breast implants and surgical techniques available. Here’s a breakdown of some key points:
"Breast augmentation is a life-changing procedure for many women. It's crucial to choose a surgeon on the specialist register with extensive experience in cosmetic surgery. At Victoria House Clinic, we prioritise patient safety and satisfaction. We utilise the latest techniques and premium implants to ensure natural-looking, long-lasting results.” – Mr George Filobbos
Types of BREAST IMPLANTS:
In the UK the most common form of breast implant is silicone gel, this is because they have a natural feel and are less likely to cause wrinkling. At Victoria House we pride ourselves on only delivering safe and effective treatments, this is why we will only offer Silicone gel implants at our clinic.
Whilst conducting your research into breast augmentation surgery you may come across other types of implants, the main two being: saline and gummy bear.
Saline implants: Filled with sterile saltwater, they feel more natural but can have a rippling appearance.
Gummy Bear implants: Gummy Bear implants are typically filled with a thicker silicone gel they have a unique teardrop shape. Imagine a soft gummy bear candy – these implants are thicker at the base and taper gently towards the top, mimicking that form.
Silicone gel implants: Filled with silicone gel, they come in various shapes and textures to achieve a more natural look and feel.
As well as implant type you should also be aware of the implant placement and incision sites.
Implant Placement: The implant can be placed behind the chest muscle (submuscular) or behind the breast tissue ( subglandular). Each plane has its pros and cons; these will be discussed with you by our surgeons.
Incision Sites: There are several incision options, each with its own advantages and potential for scarring. Mr. Filobbos & Mr. Maher will discuss the best option for you based on your desired outcome and anatomy.
MINIMISING SCARS: A Common Concern
Many women worry about scarring after breast augmentation. While some degree of scarring is inevitable with any surgery, Mr. Filobbos is highly skilled in using minimally invasive techniques to minimise scar visibility. Additionally, the incision sites are strategically placed in areas that can be easily concealed by clothing or swimwear.
RECOVERY After Breast Augmentation
Following your breast augmentation surgery, you can expect some initial swelling, bruising, and discomfort. However, our team will provide you with detailed post-operative instructions and pain medication to ensure a smooth and comfortable recovery. Most patients are able to return to work and light activities within a few days.

The cost of breast augmentation in the UK can vary depending on several factors, including:
- The type of implant used.
- The surgeon’s experience and qualifications.
- The complexity of the procedure.
