What are marionette lines?
Marionette lines are fine lines that appear vertically between the mouth and chin. They are a natural sign of ageing and something that will effect the majority of us, however in some cases they might be more prominent on some. Alongside the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, you might also notice that the skin in this area begins to sag and becomes loose. Whilst fine lines and wrinkles on the face are a natural sign of ageing some may become unhappy with the appearance of them and look for treatments to help their skin feel a little younger.
What causes marionette lines?
Like with all facial wrinkles, marionette lines are caused by a loss of collagen and elasticity. As we grow older the collagen within our skin naturally decreases and signs of ageing can become apparent. Fine lines on the face can begin to appear from as early as 30 and there are a number of factors alongside natural ageing that contribute towards the cause of marionette lines including:
