Dorsal Slit Procedure

What is a dorsal slit procedure?

A dorsal slit treatment is a minor surgical procedure that aims to relieve tightness around the foreskin area and is an alternative procedure to a circumcision. Whilst it can help relieve tightness and prevent retraction it can also be done as an emergency procedure for relief of paraphimosis. A common urogic issue whereby the foreskin becomes trapped behind the corona of the glans penis. Here are some examples of the situations whereby a dorsal slit procedure may be performed:

Our expert medical team are on hand to help you throughout the whole process and help relieve any pain you might be facing. Our dorsal slit procedures are carried out by our UK trained urologist doctor, Dr Hosam Serag.

Dorsal Slit Procedure

A dorsal slit procedure is a minor surgical treatment that is done under local anaesthetic. This means that the area will be numbed so you won't feel any pain. During the procedure the doctor will make a small incision to divide the foreskin, leaving the head of the penis partially exposed. This will help relieve any tightness and pain felt by the patient. Typically this procedure will only take around 30 mins to perform.

Following the procedure you will be taken into our onsite recovery room where you will be monitored and allowed to rest before being free to go home.

Are dorsal slit procedures safe?
The safety of both our patients and staff is extremely important to us all here at Victoria House Clinic. Our dorsal slit procedures are extremely safe and carried out by our trained urologist expert. The procedure is efficient, safe and effective.
