Redness / Rosacea
What is Rosacea?
Rosacea is a term used to describe a skin condition that causes the skin to appear red. Whilst this can occur anywhere on the body the most typical places are around the nose, cheeks and forehead area. It’s an extremely common skin concern that anyone can have, however it’s mostly found in women & people with fair skin. It’s considered to be a lifelong condition without a cure and can present itself in different forms whether that’s through flushing, bumps and pimples or visible blood vessels. Many people that have skin that is prone to redness might find themselves becoming self conscious or unhappy with the appearance of their skin, especially when it flares up. If that is the case there are a number of treatments that can help reduce the symptoms of rosacea to increase self confidence.
What causes Rosacea?
As rosacea is such a complex skin condition everyone will have different triggers that will cause their rosacea to flair up and become more visible. Some of these causes could include:
- Exposure to the sun & harmful UV rays
- A sudden change in body temperature
- Stress and overwhelming feelings
- Alcohol consumption
- A bad reaction to skincare products
- Changes in hormonal balance
As well as visible changes to the appearance of the skin, rosacea can also cause symptoms such as burning & irritation, stinging, dry skin, rashes and swelling. Overall, those with a severe case of rosacea will likely at some point feel unhappy with the condition of their skin.
